  1. Follow these instructions to update your computer's firmware. (You may want to print the instructions first.)
  2.  
  3. 1.  Shut down your computer.
  4.  
  5. 2.  Hold down the Programmer's button, the small right most button on the front of the computer. (For more information, see the manual "Setting Up Your Power Macintosh G3" that came with your computer.)
  6.  
  7. 3. Press the Power button on your computer or on the Apple USB keyboard and continue holding down the Programmer's button.  
  8.  
  9. The computer starts up. 
  10.  
  11. 4.  Release the Programmer's button when you hear a long tone.
  12.   
  13. A progress bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
  14.  
  15. After the computer starts up, you may need to reset some of its preferences because its parameter RAM (PRAM) has been reset. For more information about setting preferences and about PRAM,  see Mac OS Help in the electronic documentation installed on your computer's hard disk.
